Asociación de Mujeres Campesinas Buscando Futuro (AMCABF) is a rural women’s organisation founded in 2004 in the municipality of Marinilla, in the Department of Antioquia. The association was created to strengthen women’s participation in the social, economic, and environmental development of their communities, while promoting greater gender equality in rural areas.
Over the years, AMCABF has developed the agro-enterprise “Somos Campo”, a collective women-led initiative dedicated to the production and processing of aromatic and medicinal plants, essential oils, and natural products. Through this cooperative model, the association has supported the economic empowerment of rural women by creating new livelihood opportunities, strengthening their autonomy, and promoting the sustainable use and appreciation of local agricultural resources.
In recent years, PRO.DO.C.S., in partnership with Fundación Salva Terra, has supported AMCABF’s activities through the involvement of Universal Civil Service volunteers based in Marinilla. Their contribution has helped strengthen the organisation’s internal capacities, improve production processes, and expand its local networks and partnerships, supporting the continued growth of the agro-enterprise.
In 2026, to ensure the long-term sustainability of this collaboration, PRO.DO.C.S. has launched an initiative focused on supporting AMCABF’s generational renewal. Through the provision of two educational scholarships, the project is involving young women from the local area who are interested in developing entrepreneurial pathways and contributing to the future of the organisation. The initiative aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills between generations, strengthen the productive and managerial capacities of the agro-enterprise, and introduce new approaches and innovative tools to support its continued development.
Through this partnership, PRO.DO.C.S. and AMCABF seek to consolidate the organisation’s economic sustainability, broaden its network of collaboration, and create new opportunities for income generation, security, and economic independence for rural women in Colombia. At the heart of this work is the recognition of rural women as key drivers of sustainable development and as protagonists in building the future of their communities.
