Orden de los Clérigos Regulares Somascos
In 2026, PRO.DO.C.S. formalised a partnership with Hogar Villa San Jerónimo – Orden de los Clérigos Regulares Somascos, an educational and social care facility located in the municipality of Rionegro. The institution is a local partner of Fundación Salva Terra within the network of organisations working to support communities across Eastern Antioquia.
Hogar Villa San Jerónimo provides care and support to approximately 18–20 children and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 18, primarily coming from situations of social and economic vulnerability. The organisation offers a safe and supportive environment, educational opportunities, and personalised guidance aimed at promoting personal development, social inclusion, and the creation of independent and sustainable life prospects.
The partnership with PRO.DO.C.S. supports educational, recreational, and mentoring activities for the young people hosted by the institution, while strengthening training pathways focused on sustainable rural development and the social and professional inclusion of young people.
In particular, the collaboration includes the development of educational activities related to agriculture and agri-food production, the management of the institution’s educational farm, food processing and marketing, and the promotion of sustainable practices. These activities aim to provide young people with technical and transversal skills that can support future educational and professional pathways.
The partnership also builds upon a well-established educational tradition within Hogar Villa San Jerónimo.
Until approximately ten years ago, the institution hosted a technical and vocational training programme developed in collaboration with a local school, municipal authorities, and SENA (Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje). Through this programme, students gained practical experience in mechanical workshops, electrical systems, industrial mechanics, and welding, obtaining recognised technical qualifications.
Through this collaboration, PRO.DO.C.S. contributes to revitalising and strengthening this educational vocation by integrating it with new learning opportunities focused on agroecology, environmental sustainability, and rural development. By bringing together the expertise of different local partners, the initiative seeks to create meaningful opportunities for learning, skills development, and social inclusion for young people in the territory.
